The Devout Groom (Lucy's Texas Titans Romances Book 4) Kindle Edition
Petra Silverling has three rules for dating:
#1 No football
#2 No kissy-face emojis. (Seriously!)
#3 No lies
Her rules present a problem for Brad Degrand, a professional football player for the Texas Titans who has a secret he can’t share with Petra—because it’s about Petra. (And also because he's falling in love with her.)
As their romance heats up and Petra slowly takes down her walls, Brad’s guilt grows. He’s falling for this single mother who fights plaque by day and stalkers and scam artists by night. But, if she knew the part he’d played in her past, she’d send him packing.
When the truth comes to light, Brad has to lay everything on the line. And Petra? She has to put those Sunday school lessons to good use. Because guys like Brad don’t come along every day and losing him could be the loss of a lifetime.

***SPOILER (though really who wouldn't have seen an eventual confrontation coming?)
The one thing that kept me from giving this 5 stars was the point where Brad finally realized that he was going to meet Dillon & everything he was hiding could come out - but then figured he'd wait for the wedding to see what happened. That would be such a crappy thing to risk happening at someone's wedding.
He would have to have recognized that BEFORE the wedding was the time to come clean with Petra to make sure that he wasn't going to be crapping all over what's supposed to be such a happy event for the marrying couple & their families.
So I did feel that was a major plot flaw - honestly, it jerked me right out of the story. If Brad had confessed to Petra after her invite, the ending could have played out very similarly to how it did, & it would have been MUCH more credible.
***END SPOILER ***
It does say a lot that, even with that rather large, annoying flaw, I still enjoyed the book and would recommend it - though probably with a discreet non-spoiler heads up
*Clean romance level: passionate kissing
Please read them all, author Lucy McConnell is a great writer
Lucy McConnell established credible circumstances for this tale. From the get-go, the reader understands the reluctance of both characters. The ups and downs of their relationship are believable. The turmoil when the truth finally surfaces is realistic. Overall, it's a great story.
